How the word counter works
Type or paste any text into the box and all the numbers update as you write: words, characters with and without spaces, sentences and paragraphs. It also estimates how long it takes to read the text silently (at about 200 words per minute) and to read it aloud (about 130 words per minute), and it lists the words you repeat the most.

Frequently asked questions
Do spaces count as characters?
Yes, in the main character count. The “without spaces” number excludes spaces, tabs and line breaks.
How are words counted?
A word is any group of letters or numbers separated by spaces or punctuation. Hyphenated words and contractions count as one word.
Is my text saved?
No. Nothing is uploaded or stored; if you close the page, the text disappears.
